Under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140), you have the right to inspect and copy the public records of the Commission. We respond to written requests within 5 business days (a brief extension is allowed in limited circumstances).

Please describe the records you're requesting as specifically as possible, and let us know whether the request is for a commercial purpose. There is no fee for the first 50 pages of standard black-and-white copies; fees for additional copies follow the Illinois FOIA schedule.

Board Member & Delegate Resources

Open Meetings Act (OMA) training is required of our delegates and alternates — a one-time training completed within 90 days of taking office, conducted by the Illinois Attorney General's Public Access Counselor (PAC). FOIA training is completed annually by the Commission's designated FOIA Officer. Complete the training and find OMA/FOIA guidance at the links below.

Authority: 5 ILCS 120/1.05(b) (one-time OMA training for members); 5 ILCS 140/3.5 (annual FOIA Officer training); Illinois Attorney General Public Access Counselor guidance.
